fully convinced we’re the same person because my brain is the exact same, hell, even while typing this I’m struggling to sleep. and funnily enough I do the exact same things and it works! I love the idea of revisiting an old draft, definitely something I shall try. lovely read 🤍
i'll definitely do some of these. all wonderful little self-care moments we can ground ourselves with. what's funny is that my walks with music or audiobooks/podcasts do the opposite—i'll reach for sound when i don't want to think or when i need my brain to stop! i started taking walks without sound a while ago initially as a way to be more present in my environment, notice more around me and as a form of meditation where i really just think through all the things that need thinking through.
also, i'm all about books about nothing. movies too. love the stories about mundane every day life that show case that big changes can happen in subtle ways. always brings me back to the richness of life as it is. what are some you've read lately that you'd recommend?
This really spoke to me 💛 I even already had "Days at the Morisaki Bookshop" top of my book wish-list! You have a free flowing nature to your writing that allows truth and creativity to tumble out effortlessly. I really enjoyed this read. I love that you offer unconventional advice. I think that can really give us a gentle jolt to regrouping ourselves. I like the part about finding the shape of your thoughts- that's a good way to word that. I think this especially appeals to me around this time of year with the summer transition bringing a new swirl of exciting energy. My thoughts are excited too and fomo is always around the corner. I love this reminder to embrace the simpleness of daily living. One recommendation you may enjoy is a youtuber named Haegreendal. She really reminds me of what you're getting at. And I also love the book Welcome to The Hyuanamdong Bookshop. Thank you for such a worthwhile read! ✨
Thanks for this post. As someone who constantly struggles with ‘switching off’ or even ‘turning it down’ I’ll definitely try some of these. I’m looking forward to transforming folding clothes from my least favourite chore to a mental release.
Thank you for this—truly. Currently in a season of hustle where my brain is spinning and I'm running a reel of "should I have posted that/said that/reached out there." Bookmarking <3
May I echo the 'walking without earphones'...and take it further. I walk everyday, first with my partner and big dog, then with my wonky friend and four small dogs. Recently I went walking with a friend for an hour, in silence. No conversation, no performance, no dog(s) or friend's balance to curate. Just silent, agreed companionship.
And the river...
And books, yes! May I suggest, also, Anne Michaels and Michael Ondaatje 🙂
Wow. This is such a nice reminder, especially as I am going through an emotionally draining time. Will definitely be saving and returning to this. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.
I could totally relate to this post, the over thinking, the need to just quieten the mind. No. 2 is something I'm usually drawn to. Slow hot showers really have a way of slowing things down.

Love these ideas. I always have a jigsaw puzzle on the go & that provides me with something to focus on that helps slow the cacophony in my head
