It’s comforting to see it in writing that someone out there does appreciate the invisible labor we do every day to keep our lives together. Thank you for writing this ☺️
Almost stunning way you write. The notice of the small things that constantly stay in our wheel of focus is such a tedious but necessary thing and can feel quite overwhelming at times
Ugh, I felt this to my bones! You’re absolutely right when you say there’s dopamine hit because we’ll have to do it all over again. I’ve started doing life admin days (like you mentioned) twice a month so that kinda helps. I also love how you mentioned this is the scaffolding that allows you to have the more fun things in life. It’s a great reminder so that it doesn’t feel so frustrating, so thanks!
You’re right! Not anyone I know likes “adulting”, but automating it helps (auto bill paying, etc.). But….there is something to be said about taking a day off from adulting and just doing what you want! 🥰🥰🥰
saying it out loud does help because it no longer feels like a personal failure. thank you for writing about the weight of that drawer :) it's made me feel less alone with adulting
One key is to stop seeing housework as life admin. Housework is its own category, and we should be doing a little bit every day to keep ticking along.
In terms of actual life admin, I find it helpful to schedule an 'Anti-Procrastination' day once a week. I picked up this idea from Flylady, although I don't follow the rest of her routines. It's made a huge difference, having a day each week dedicated to getting those annoying (big and) little tasks done!
